
Softball Defeats George Mason, Falls to SHSU

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Ball State softball team defeated George Mason 3-1, but fell to Sam Houston State 1-0.
Lisa Rozanski got hit for the eighth time this season to start the first game. She went on to steal her 17th base of the year for the Cardinals. Rozanski leads the team in both categories.
Alicia Barkley's single moved Rozanski to third. Barkley was able to advance to second as the throw from left field went to third base.
Abby Gross hit a two-RBI single up the middle to put Ball State on top 2-0.
Ashli Breau of George Mason hit a solo home run over the left field wall to cut the BSU lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning.
The Cardinals got three base hits in the fifth inning to load the bases but were unable to score.
Ball State picked up another run in the top of the seventh inning as Katelyn Gunderson scored off a single by Rozanski.
Elizabeth Milian picked up the win on the mound for the Cardinals. Milian pitched a complete game, threw six strikeouts and did not issue any walks against the Patriots.
Sam Houston State took the early lead in game two. Casie Everitt hit an RBI single to left field to put the Bearkats on the scoreboard.
The Cardinals were limited to five hits and committed two errors. The only run of the game was unearned.
Laura Masch was on the mound for BSU. Masch threw a complete game and stuck out eight batters.
The Cardinals will wrap up the USF Under Armour Tournament with a contest against Georgia Southern at 9:30 a.m.
