Miami's Kenny Hayes led all scorers with 27 points, while going 10-for-11 from the line and 3-of-4 from behind the arch, as he rallied the RedHawks to a 66-54 victory over the Cardinals at Worthen Arena.
The defending MAC Tournament Champion RedHawks (10-10, 4-4 MAC) defeated Ball State (3-17, 2-6 MAC) with persistent defense against Ball State veteran Peyton Stovall, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 57 percent from three point range.

With only ten players scoring in the game, Ball State was paced on offense by Newell, Goins and Rashaun McLemore who combined for 43 points.
Malik Perry added eight points and nine rebounds.
Hayes personally withered the Cardinals by going on a 14-0 run in a four and a half minute span, as he made 9-of-9 from the line and sinking two from the field.
Ball State returns to action with a 7 p.m. contest Wednesday at Kent State.
