MUNCIE, Ind. ? The two-time defending Mid-American Conference regular season champion Ball State soccer team announced the signing of four players to national letters of intent, interim head coach Abby Richter said. The Cardinals added Jackie Arroyo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), Abby Milillo (Fairfield, Ohio/Badin), Sarah Orisich (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) and Alison Ramsey (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville) to the BSU soccer family.
“Overall, this is a tremendous class of players that will help the Ball State soccer program maintain its championship level,” Richter said. “This is a class that can come in and have an impact on our program in, not just next year but in future years.”
Arroyo, a defender from Cincinnati, Ohio, was a four-year starter at Princeton High School and a team captain. She guided Princeton to a No. 6 ranking in Cincinnati, the highest city ranking in program history, as she earned team Most Valuable Player honors as a senior. She was named All-Southwest Ohio, First Team All-District and First Team All-Conference (GMC) as a senior.
She also earned Cincinnati Enquirer Soccer All-Star honors as both a junior and senior. She was part of the ODP (Olympic Development Program) State Team in 2006 and part of the ODP State Pool in 2004 and 2005. She played club soccer for the Cincinnati United Premier as well. She also excelled academically as she was a member of the National Honor Society, an International Baccalaureate student and a Bausch & Lomb Outstanding Science and Math Student. She is the daughter of Max and Tere Arroyo.
Milillo, a forward from Fairfield, Ohio, was a four-year starter at Badin High School and was a teammate of current Cardinal Kristina Anderson. She guided Badin to four straight GGCL North League championships as they compiled a 63-15-8 overall record during her career. Badin posted a 22-3 record during her career in OHSAA tournament play with a Division II state championship in 2005 and Division II runner-up finishes in both 2006 and 2007.
She earned GGCL Second Team All-Conference honors as a junior and was team captain as a senior before suffering a season-ending knee injury. She was named to the Academic All-Ohio team as a senior and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was part of the ODP State Team for six years from 2002 through 2007. She was on the ODP Regional Team in 2004 and was in the ODP National Pool as well. She played club soccer for Classics Hammer FC and Cincinnati United Premier. She is the daughter of Steve and Gail Milillo.
Orisich, a midfielder from Columbus, Ind., was a four-year starter at Columbus North High School. She guided her team to sectional championships in 2004, 2005 and 2007. She was named the Republic All-Area Player of the Year as a senior and also earned Second Team All-State honors as a team captain. She graduates Columbus North High School as the leader in assists for a career, single season and single game.
She earned First Team All-District honors as a junior and senior and was a three-time All-Conference selection. She was a member of the ODP State Team in 2005, 2006 and 2007 as well as an ODP Regional member in 2006 and 2007. She played club soccer for Dynamo FC which won the Ohio State Championship and was a regional qualifier in 2006. She is the daughter of John and Karen Orisich.
Ramsey, a defender from Brecksville, Ohio, was a four-year letterwinner at Brecksville High School. She earned Second Team All-Southwestern Conference honors and All-Greater Cleveland Honorable Mention honors in 2006. She guided her team to the Southwestern Conference championship as a junior when she was named Defensive Most Valuable Player.
As a sophomore, she helped her team to the Division I Sectional championship and the Division I State quarterfinals. She was a member of the State ODP team from 2003 through 2006. She has played club soccer for the Internationals Soccer Club since 1998. She helped her team to the Ohio North State Championships, the Region II Championship and the US Youth Soccer National Championship Finals.
She also participated in the 1999 U-13 North American All-Stars that played in European tournaments, including a 3rd place finish in Palencia, Spain. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is a member of the Who's Who of North American High School Students. She is the daughter of Scott and Nancy Ramsey.
