
Field Hockey Falls To Ohio, 4-0

MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State field hockey team fell to Ohio in their Mid-American Conference home opener 4-0 Saturday for their eighth straight loss of the season.
Rachelle Coetzee scored the lone goal in the first 35 minutes leaving the Cardinals trailing by one at halftime.
Marcy Dull would provide the second goal in the next half to give the Bobcats a 2-0 cushion.
Nikki Gnozzio added a third goal followed by Rachelle Coetzee a minute later who would score the fourth and final goal to lead the Bobcats offensive attack with two goals on the day.
The Cardinals' three shots on goal, two of which came from Junior forward Brooke MacGillivary (North Vancouver, B.C./Carson Graham), were unable to get passed Ohio's goalkeeper Jessi Martin, who earned her second shutout of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Tiffany Shifflett (Yorktown, Va./Hampton Roads Academy)made two saves in the net for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals trailed 8-5 on shots and 7-4 in penalty corners during the game giving the Bobcats their third MAC win.
For the fourth game this season, the Cardinals were held scoreless.
Ball State (1-9) will host the Golden Flashes of Kent State (6-4) 1 p.m. Sunday Oct. 5. The game will be broadcast on channel 57 and online at www.ballstatesports.com for free by the Ball State Sports Link.
