Rein Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

MUNCIE, Ind. ? Ball State senior forward Emily Rein (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She becomes the third player in Ball State soccer history to earn Academic All-District accolades as she joins former Cardinals Amy Holt (2005 & 2006) and Dee Nocero (2002 & 2004).

“I am so proud of Emily for her commitment to academics,” head coach Michael Lovett said. “She epitomizes what a student-athlete is all about. She is dedicated to her studies and that dedication will take her far in life. She is a great representative for the Ball State soccer program and this is a very deserving honor.”

Rein, a team tri-captain, owns a 3.83 grade-point average in pre-business and has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team the past two seasons. She leads the Cardinals in scoring this season with 16 points, including the game-winning goal in Thursday's 1-0 victory over Miami. She leads the team with five goals and has dished out a team-high six assists.

She is second all-time in Ball State history in total points with 70, just six shy of Nocero's career record of 76 points. She is second in goals scored at 27 and is tied for second in all-time assists with 16. She has scored at least 15 points in all four seasons of her career at Ball State.

Distric V represents Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario and Manitoba. The team includes student-athletes who have a 3.30 GPA or higher and are in their second year or later of athletic competition and are not a first year transfer.
