Field Hockey Hosts Central Michigan On Senior Day

MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State field hockey team will recognize its seniors this weekend as the Cardinals host Central Michigan 1 p.m. Saturday and Miami 1 p.m. Sunday.
Casey Hunsicker (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken), Jodi Mann (Clifton, Va./Centreville) and Melanie Pasillas (Glendora, Calif./Glendora) will be honored in a pre-game ceremony Saturday for their contributions as the trio plays in their last two-game weekend at home.
Ball State holds a record of 1-10 overall (0-3 in the MAC) as they battle for a conference win Saturday with Central Michigan who is 1-8 overall, 0-3 in the MAC.
The teams split the series in 2007 with the Cardinals picking up a 2-1 win at home. The Chippewas were the last team Ball State faced when it fell 1-0 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament.
Coming off a loss in overtime against Indiana, Central Michigan's Samantha Sandham powers the offensive charge with eight goals and two assists this season, including two in the team's previous conference game against Kent State.
Miami hosts Central Michigan 3 p.m. Friday, October 10 before heading to Muncie, Indiana Sunday to contend with Ball State.
The Redhawks enter the weekend 8-3 overall and are 2-1 MAC. Elizabeth Gilroy leads Miami's offensive attack with five goals and four assists.
Miami is coming off its second MAC win after defeating Ohio 2-1, losing only to Kent State last weekend.
Saturday's game marks the 55th meeting all-time between Ball State and Central Michigan with the Cardinals leading the series 39-16.
The meeting between Ball State and Miami Sunday will be the 54th between the two with the Cardinals leading all games 43-11.
Sunday's game against Miami will be broadcast live on WCRD (91.3 FM) as well as on www.ballstateports.com webcasts.
