
Track & Field Competes in Gladstein Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Ball State women's track and field team competed in the Gladstein Invitational. The invitational was a two day event with no team scoring.
Ra'Jae Marable started day one by recording her fastest 60-meter dash time of the season. She finished fourth in her heat with a time of 8.08. Marable also took a third place finish in the 60-meter hurdles heat finishing in 9.13. Katie Johnson finished her heat in second place with a time of 9.01.
Lisa Arrowsmith ran a 5:16.12 mile. She finished fourth in her race, yet it was the fourth best overall time out of three preliminaries.
There were two 3000-meter runs at the Gladstein Invite, Ali Bishel placed second in the 3000-meter run invitational with a time of 9:42.22. Laura Bandy won the other 3000-meter run with a time of 10:23.97, with teammate Vanessa Gilbert finishing in second finishing in 10:24.35.
Lanae Stovall and Thekla Lorenz competed in the pentathlon for the Cardinals. Stovall's best finishes came in the 60-meter hurdles (9.09), the shot put (11.36m) and the long jump (5.08m).
Lorenz's best finishes came in the 60-meter hurdles (9.12), the high jump (1.57m), the shot put (10.59m), and the 800-meter run (2:26.58).
Johnson started day two with a fourth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.90). Marable placed sixth with a time of 8.99.
Bishel finished sixth in the 800-meter run (2:18.46), with teammate Brittany Ade right behind her in seventh finishing in 2:18.90.
Freshmen Natashia Baskin and Megan Bevans both recorded fifth place finishes in their respective events. Baskin ran the 200-meter dash in 27.21, while Bevans ran the 600-meter run in 1:39.92.
Ball State had two relay teams finish in fourth place. The distance medley team of Gilbert, Baskin, Arrowsmith and Kelsey Nielsen finished in 12:57.65. The 4x400 meter relay team of Bevans, Brandi Robinson, Jenna Schmitmeyer and Johnson finished in 3:57.61.
Cara Collins took second place in the weight throw (18.15m).
The Cardinals finished strong in the long jump competition. Amanda Barnhart finished third (5.81m), Terri Abraham took fourth (5.66m) and Lorenz finished seventh (5.52m).
Ball State will return to action Feb. 1 for the Indiana Invitational held in Bloomington, Ind.
