Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener At No. 8 Illinois

URBANA, Ill. - The Ball State University men's tennis team fell to the 2007 NCAA finalist Illinois by a score of 7-0 on Friday night in its 2008 season opener. The Illini are currently ranked No. 8 in the country.
Junior Jose Perdomo put up a good fight to Illinois Ruben Gonzales but lost, 7-6 (8), 6-3. True freshman Eduardo Pavia took Ryan Rowe to three sets but dropped his match at the No. 2 spot, 6-7 (6), 6-2, 10-2. Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year Bret Berryman also fell in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to Billy Heiser in the No. 3 slot.
The Cardinals duo of junior Joe Vallee and freshman Shaun Bussert had a near win over Brandon Davis and Billy Heiser losing 9-8 (3).
