Leibel, Bandy and Martin Named 2007 Soccer Captains

“Collectively, these three players are exactly the type of leaders that our team needs, and they provide a great balance to the team heading into the 2007 season,” Salmon said. “They have demonstrated great leadership both on and off the field and will look to guide us towards achieving our goals for the upcoming season.”
Leibel, who has started all 40 games over the past two seasons, returns to lead the Cardinals' offensive attack from her forward position. She scored four goals last season and has tallied nine goals over the past two seasons. She tallied two game-winning goals in 2006, including the clinchers against Xavier and
Martin returns as the anchor of the Cardinals' defense this season after starting every game last season as a junior. She helped the Cardinals record seven shutouts last season and hold opponents to only 22 goals in 20 games. She contributed on the offensive end as well as she finished tied for the team lead and eighth in the MAC with five assists.
Bandy, a three-year letterwinner from her midfield position, has tallied 18 points in her career in 49 career contests. She made six starts last season and scored a goal in the Cardinals' season-opening victory at IPFW.
The Cardinals will begin defense of their MAC title on August 18 as they host IUPUI in the first of two exhibition games at the BSU Soccer Field.
