Five Women's Golfers Named NGCA All-American Scholars

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Five members of the Ball State University women's golf team have been named 2006-07 All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association.
Amber Uphaus, Holly Jones, Kallie Harrison, Kirsty O'Connor and Sarah Windlan each recieved the academic honor.
"For three years now, more than half of my team has been named to this prestigious team," said BSU head coach Katherine Mowat. "I never take this award for granted because each year starts as a clean slate and to be named a National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar takes hard work and dedication throughout the year.
"The student athletes know that in order to earn this award, every grade in every class counts and every competitive round of golf counts. I am thrilled that Amber, Holly and Kallie have earned the award multiple times and that Kirsty and Sarah earned it for the first time. I am certainly proud of this team's academic success."
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team includes a minimum grade-point average of 3.50 while competing in at least 50 percent of the team's regularly-scheduled competitive rounds.
The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA was formed to encourage playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the represents over 400 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
