MUNCIE, Ind. -- Eric Skillman (Jasper, Ind./Jasper H.S.) has signed a national letter of intent to attend Ball State University and compete for the men's golf team, according to Ball State head coach Mike Fleck.
Skillman joins Anthony Novak (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.) and Eric Steger (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville H.S.) in the Cardinals' 2007 recruiting class.
Skillman, a senior at Jasper for Coach Steve Milligan, is the younger brother of former BSU men's golf student-athlete Andy Skillman. Andy, who owns the second-lowest 18-hole score in BSU men's golf history with a round of 64, completed his fourth season for the Cardinals in 2007 and graduated from the University May 5.
“I am very excited to have Eric join the Ball State golf family,” Fleck says. “Along with Anthony Novak and Eric Steger, Eric will continue the excellence we have come to expect from student-athletes associated with our men's golf program.”
Eric Skillman has earned four letters in golf and tennis for the Wildcats. A 2005 and 2006 all-conference selection in golf, Skillman posted a 74.0 stroke average as a junior in addition to qualifying for the Indiana State High School Championship in 2005 and 2006.
Skillman has garnered many medalist honors in his prep career, including the 2006 Legends of Indiana Spring Preview title with a round of 70. He also carded a 72 en route to winning Big 8 Conference medalist honors last spring.
