AKRON, Ohio -- The Ball State men's golf team finished eighth out of 17 teams at the 2007 First Energy Intercollegiate played at the famed Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
Eastern Kentucky used a final-round 291 to win the tournament by one stroke over host Akron. Charlotte finished four strokes back at 872.
Ball State's final round 299 and 54-hole mark of 900 was good for eighth.
Senior Wayne Denger carded rounds of 73-73-74 to tie for 17th overall.
Senior C.D. Hockersmith posted rounds of 76-73-76 to tie for 30th.
The two were the only Cardinals in the top 30.
The event is the final competition before the MAC Championship, which is May 3-5 at The Medallion Club in Westerville, Ohio.
