Weather Ends Final Round; Women's Golf Third At UC
April 03, 2007 | Women's Golf
OXFORD, Ohio -- Despite playing 13 holes Tuesday afternoon, weather conditions forced golfers from the course and cancelled the final round of the UC Spring Invitational.
Even though 13 holes were completed, the NCAA and the official scoring provided by Golfstat only recognizes 18 or 36-hole results as final, therefore the 18-hole results from Monday are final.
"It's disappointing," said BSU head coach Katherine Mowat. "Through nine holes we had moved into second place and were playing really well as a team."
Sarah Windlan was one-over par through 14 holes, while Kirsty O'Connor was three-over and Kallie Harrison was at two-over through 13 holes Tuesday.
Melissa Miller, playing as an individual, posted a score of 78 Tuesday, marking her career low at Ball State.
On Monday, freshman Amy Roberts fired a first-round 75 to tie for second overall as the Ball State women's golf team placed third place at the UC Women's Spring Invitational.
The scheduled two-day, 36-hole tournament was played at the Hueston Woods Golf Course, just outside of Oxford, Ohio.
Detroit won the 11-team event with a 313, while Cincinnati placed second at 314.
The Cardinals were just two strokes out of the lead entering Tuesday's final 18 holes with a team score of 315.
