April 26, 2007 | Women's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - Freshman Sophie Quist (Australia/Ascham School) of the Ball State women's tennis team has been named Second Team All-Mid-American Conference. The announcement was made by the league office Thursday night.
As a true freshman Quist has played primarily at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Cardinals. Quist owns a 10-10 overall record and stands at 4-4 in league play. Quist has earned wins over Toledo, Miami, Northern Illinois and Akron. She just recently received MAC Player of the Week honors for helping Ball State to a 5-2 road win at Northern Illinois after winning at singles and doubles.
The Ball State women's tennis team begins MAC Tournament action at Toledo on Friday, April 27. The No. 7 seeded Cardinals face No. 2 Buffalo at 2:00 p.m. (EST).
"Sophie has worked hard all season and is very deserving of this award," said head coach Kathy Bull. "Quist is a great addition to our program. She came in as a true freshman and had a lot of success at No. 1 singles."
