ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- Brian Maurer was one of just 14 golfers to break 80 in difficult, windy conditions on one of Indiana's toughest golf courses Tuesday afternoon.

The 14-team event, which was shortened to 54 holes due to weather and course conditions, was played at Wolf Run Golf Club near Indianapolis.
Ball State -- playing without its traditional lineup of seniors Wayne Denger, C.D. Hockersmith, Andy Skillman and Austin Steele -- opened with a first-round team score of 323.
Chris Hanson, playing as an individual, finished tied for 16th with two rounds of 81.
Akron won the event with a two-round team score of 616, while Miami University finished second at 634.
