
Ball State Starts Hawkeye Classic 0-2

The Ball State Softball team fell to 7-16 on the season after dropping two games in day one of the Hawkeye Classic.
The Cardinals lost to North Dakota State 1-3 in game one, then fell tournament host Iowa in game two 2-9.
In game one the Cardinals jumped to a 1-0 lead as Kelli Jeziorski hit a double to centerfield at her first at bat. Abby Gross then delivered a two-out single that allowed Jeziorski to score Ball State's only run.
Jeziorski ended the game 2-for-2 with a double in the first inning and a single to leftfield later in the fifth inning. Gross was held to a single hit, as North Dakota State's Melissa Chmielewski led her team going 3-for-3.
Elizabeth Milian threw a complete game and recorded seven strikeouts. The loss takes Milian to 4-6 on the year.
In game two Ball State started the game with the lead after senior Taylor Yancey hit a two-run home run in the first inning. The home run is Yancey's 5th of the season which puts her at a tie for second-place in BSU history behind Misty Snider for most home runs in a single season.
The Hawkeye's took complete control of the game after putting up four runs in the 6th inning off of a two RBI double by Colleen McGlaughin.
Ball State returns to action tomorrow to face Northern Illinois at noon.
