
Milian Pitches Cardinals To 3-0 Win Against Wisconsin

TAMPA, Fla -- The Ball State Softball team started the USF Speedline Tournament 1-0 after defeating Wisconsin 3-0.
Freshman Elizabeth Milian led the way for the Cardinals by throwing a complete game and only allowing one hit. The victory takes Milian to 4-3 on the season.
Milian gave up a hit to the first batter of the game, and then shut down the Badgers to improve the Cardinals record to 7-11.
Taylor Yancey sparked the offense batting 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs. The Cardinals took advantage of a lead-off walk in the top of the third inning. Freshman Brittney Jones was on first as Allie Pennock came to the plate and delivered a single.
The Cardinals called for a double steal that took Jones to third and Pennock to second. Yancey came to the plate and hit a double that scored both of the runners.
Ball State's final run came in the seventh inning as Abby Gross singled to right field to score Yancey. Gross now leads the team in RBIs with 13.
The Cardinals will play 2 games in day two of the tournament. The first game is against Dartmouth at 2:30, the second is against tournament host South Florida at 5:00 p.m.
