Ball State Track Finish Third In MAC Championships

The Ball State track team placed third in the Mid-American Conference Championships. Junior Amber Williams set multiple records in the 60-meter hurdles as she won the race clocking in at 8.19.

Williams' time of 8.19 is a new indoor MAC meet record and a new Akron fieldhouse record. The old indoor MAC meet record was held by Tamera Thomas of Western Michigan with a time of 8.23.

Williams finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.42 and also placed third in the 200-meter dash finishing in 24.31.

Senior Rose Lehe contributed by placing third in the 5000-meter run (17:28.09), and finishing fourth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:55.36.

Ball State's best performance in the 3000-meter run came from freshman Ali Bishel. Bishel finished third in the 3000 with a time of 9:53.99.

Lauren McNichols tied for fourth place in the high jump with a mark of 5-6.50. She also broke her own current school record in the pole vault by reaching 11-7.75 at the MAC Championships.

The distance medley relay team of Lisa Arrowsmith, Amanda Brewer, Ali Bishel, and Sarah Kehe placed second. The time of 11:57.07 was the best of the season as it was their first time competing in the event.

Ball State got fifth place finishes from Voni Ferguson and Amanda Ponsot. Ferguson ran the 400-meter dash in 55.22, while Ponsot competed in the mile run and recorded a time of 4:58.95.

Off the track Tamelca Lewis earned fifth place in the triple jump with a distance of 38-7.75. Lanae Stovall competed in the pentathlon and placed third. Stovall posted her highest point total of the season with 3523.
