
Softball Ends The First Day With A 1-1 Record

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. ? After the first day of the MT Strikeout Breast Cancer Classic, the Cardinals find themselves 1-1 on the day and 3-4 overall after being defeated by Tennessee State 5-11, then bouncing back to beat Belmont 8-6.
The Cardinals started off hot against Tennessee State with Kelli Jeziorski hitting a two-run home run to start off a four-run first inning.
The Tigers came back in the sixth inning, hitting four doubles and two singles generating a seven-run inning.
“Overall we need to do a better job taking care of the ball,” says BSU head coach Craig Nicholson. “If we want to be a successful team, we need to limit our mistakes”.
Junior Abby Gross led the way for the Cardinals in game two. Gross went 3-for-4 against the Bruins with one double, one home run and three RBIs.
Jeziorski also hit a home run and ended up batting 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.
“It was good for us to come back and win our second game,” says Nicholson. “We played better and hopefully we can continue to improve the rest of the tournament.”
On the mound, Amanda Pick threw a complete game to earn the win. Pick struck out for batters en route to improving her record to 2-1 for the season.
