Baseball Drops Two Games Saturday To La Salle

Ball State mounted a rally in the sixth inning. After back-to-back singles from Justin Rogers and Matt Stoeklen, Alex Schmid drew a walk to load the bases. Ryan Chenoweth followed with a walk to bring home the Cardinals' first run of the game. Stoeklen scored later in the inning to bring

Chenoweth led the Cardinals at the plate in game one, going 2-for-2 with a walk.
In the second game, La Salle jumped out to another early lead. Rickards again started the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning. T.J. Chism followed with an RBI single to give the Explorers a 3-0 lead after one inning.
La Salle added six runs in the fourth inning and one run each in the fifth and sixth innings to grab an 11-0 lead before the Ball State bats got going.
Wayne Bond put the Cardinals on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-run homer. Later in the inning, Kory Benbow laced an RBI double, and Chenoweth notched a sacrifice fly to cut La Salle's lead to 11-4.
The Cardinals added one more run in the seventh when Cory Dragstrem led off with a single and came around to score. Dragstrem finished 2-for-3 at the plate in game two. Benbow joined him with a 2-for-3 effort to lead Ball State.
With the losses, the Cardinals fall to 0-3 on the season. La Salle improves to 2-1.
