MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's track and field team hosted a Quadrangular with Northern Illinois, Miami University and Western Michigan on Friday night at the Field Sports Building. The Cardinals ended the night with a third place finish.
Western Michigan won the meet with 155 points, followed by Miami University with 150 points, Ball State scored 92 points and Northern Illinois compiled 91 points.
Ball State won the 60 meter hurdles with Amber Williams leading the way with an 8.26 final. BSU also took top honors in the one mile run with Rose Lehe taking first after clocking in a 5:04.07 final time teammate Amanda Ponsot came in second with a 5:04.41.
Williams earned her second win of the night for BSU in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.04.
In the 400 meter dash Voni Ferguson recorded a 57.16 which was good for third. Kelsey Nielson clocked in a 10:04.37 for fifth place in the 3000 meter run.
Tyra Schantz and Candace Jackson finished 11th and 12th respectively in the weight throw. Jackson took 14th in the shot put. Lauren McNichols broke a seven year old school record in pole vault after clearing 11'3.75" (3.45m). The old record was held by Angie Hay with a record of 10'10 1/4". Tamelca Lewis finished third in the long jump (5.46m) and in the triple jump (11.58m). Jessica Genovese was fourth in the high jump with a 1.67m final.
Ball State continues its indoor competition at the MAC Championships (Feb. 23-24) at Akron.
