Men's Swimming Leads After 12 Events At House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Ball State University men's and women's swimming and diving team competed at the House of Champions Friday night at IUPUI. The men are in first place after 12 events with a score of 226.5 while the women are in second with 248 points.
Senior Addison Del Rio earned second place honors in the 200 IM after swimming a 2:10.99 final. Sophomore Emily Hurst placed third in that event (2:11.54).
Senior Ryan Franklin took third for the men in the 200 IM after clocking in a 2:01.37.
True freshman Katie Bylsma turned in a time of 24.77 in the 50 free for a third place finish while sophomore Jacob Morris also took third place for the men in that same event with a 21.31.
Sophomore Lisa Maertin won the 1-meter diving event with a 240.55 final and teammate senior Stephanie Paul took second after scoring a 236.45.
The Ball State men closed out the night with a first place finish in the 400 medley relay. The foursome of sophomore Tyler Dixon, Franklin, Morris and sophomore Ben Battjes swam a 3:32.70 to win the event.
Ball State swimming and diving continues action at the House of Champions Saturday at 10 am and 5 pm.
