Rekha Hollomon Joins Women's Basketball Staff

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Rekha Hollomon, who has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois, has joined the Ball State women's basketball staff according to head coach Tracy Roller. Hollomon, who's duties will begin immediately, fills the position vacated by the departure of Jeanette Gray.
"We are very excited to welcome Rekha to our Ball State Women's Basketball family," said Roller. "Our program is very blessed to have found such a dynamic recruiter and coach. From her Top 25 experience at Baylor and her time at the NCAA, to the top assistant at my alma mater Eastern Illinois, there is nothing this up & coming coach cannot do for our program. I'm so thrilled to work with her."
This past season, Hollomon served as the Eastern Illinois post coach, where she helped guide Rachel Gillian to Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year accolades. Gillian led the OVC in blocked shots during the 2005-06 season, posting 61 on the year to shatter the previous EIU single-season record of 46, which dated back to 1982. Gillian also finished the season ranked among the league leaders in rebounding, field goal percentage and free throw percentage.
In addition to her duties as the post coach, Hollomon served as the team's guard coach for the 2004-05 campaign. Hollomon's other duties at EIU included serving as the recruiting organizer, camp coordinator, marketing liaison, academic counselor and golf outing organizer. She was also responsible for team travel arrangements and equipment orders.
Prior to joining EIU, Hollomon served as a graduate assistant coach at Baylor under 2000 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Kim Mulkey-Robertson. In her two season's at Baylor, Hollomon helped guide the Lady Bears to a 2003-04 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance and a runner-up finish in the 2002-03 WNIT. Her duties at Baylor included coordinating film exchange, assisting with scouting and recruiting, supervising the Lady Bear Ball Girls program, academic support and basketball camp court supervisor.
Hollomon also spent one year in the NCAA office as an Education Services intern, where she coordinated the Stay in Bounds silent auction and assisted with the CHAMPS/Life Skills and Continuing Education Conference. She as also a member of the NCAA selection committee for the Leadership Conference.
A four-year letterwinner in women's basketball at North Carolina A&T, Hollomon was a two-year team captain for the Aggies. She was also a recipient of the 2002 Black Coaches Association Postgraduate Scholarship and the 2002 NCAA Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship.
A member of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, Hollomon earned her bachelor's degree in public relations from North Carolina A&T in 2001 and completed her master's degree in education with a sport management emphasis from Baylor in 2004.
Hollomon and her husband Curtis - - an Associate Director of Education Outreach with the NCAA - - currently reside in Indianapolis.
