The two received their award at the 2006 team banquet May 20 at the Alumni Center in Muncie. The awards were voted on by members of the team.
"Patrick and Brandon are very deserving and without question were our MVPs this year," said BSU head coach Mike Fleck. "Not only did they have impressive senior seasons, but when you look back over their four years, they each really elevated the level of our program."
Wilkes-Krier ended his senior campaign with a team-best 73.00 scoring average in the spring season. The 73 average is the third-best single season average in BSU golf history, while his career average of 74.00 is second all-time in BSU golf history.
Wilkes-Krier set a Ball State school record and First Energy Intercollegiate Tournament record with his 15-under par 201 total to win medalist honors at the famed Firestone Golf Club in April.
Boomsma's spring average was the team's second-best of the season at 74.00. He finished his career with a 74.56 career average after finishing third overall at the 2006 Mid-American Conference Championship.
In addition, Wilkes-Krier earned the Earl Yestingsmeier Student-Athlete Award as a graduating senior who excels in the areas of academics, athletics and community involvement.
Junior Austin Steele, who fired a season average of 74.92 in 14 rounds of action, was named the team's Most Improved Player for 2005-06. Steele tied for 12th at the 2006 MAC Championship.
