EMU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Catherina Bestahorn and Elizabeth Syrova defeated Ball State's tandem of Katie Owens and Stephanie Farrar, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles. EMU's Falvia Micoti and Laura Fernandez came out on top over the Cardinals' Jennifer Pollack and Rachel Lemar, 8-4, at the No. 3 position to secure the doubles point. Ball State No. 1 tandem of Jessica Thompson and Haly Calderwood secured the Cardinals' lone doubles win of the outing with an 8-6 verdict over Vanessa Frankowski and Yana Parfenyuk.
During singles competition, the Eagles locked up the match after notching victories in five out of the six matches. BSU's only win came at the No. 1 position where Thompson toppled Syrova in straight sets -- 6-3, 6-4.
