Katie Sundberg Named MAC Women's Golfer of the Week
March 21, 2006 | Women's Golf
"Katie's round of 74 was a great round of golf given the conditions we played in," said BSU head coach Katherine Mowat. "It's unfortunate we couldn't continue playing, because I think she would have continued to solidify herself as the golfer she is. This is a well-deserved award from the conference office."
Sundberg, the reigning 2005 MAC Medalist, guided Ball State to a team score of 317 to win the 18-hole Butler Invitational at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis Monday.
Sundberg earned medalist honors in the tournament with a two-over par 74. The nine-team tourney was originally scheduled for 36 holes but shortened due to inclement weather.
Ball State's 317 was three shots better than second-place Butler and 14 shots better than third-place Loyola-Chicago. Sundberg's three-stroke victory came in 40 degree temperatures and 20 mile per hour winds.
