Swimming and Diving House of Champions Day One Results

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ball State University men's and women's swimming and diving team ended its first day of action at the House of Champions relays on Friday night hosted by IUPUI.
Ball State's quartet of Kelly Johnson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead), Michelle Huang (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central), Addison Del Rio (Munster, Ind./Munster) and Brittany Sayler (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) took home second place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:38.28. The men captured first in the 200 free relay with the foursome of Ben Battjes (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial), Ryan Franklin (Crown Point, Ind./Lake Central), Eric Mattingly (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown) and Jacob Morris (Walton, Ind./Lewis Cass).
Ben Karwoski (Bluffton, Ind./Bluffton) took top honors in the 500 free after clocking in a time of 4:42.33.
Sayler managed a first place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.53 while teammate Adam Konopka (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) also took the number one spot in that same event with a time of 1:56.11.
Katie Boyle (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) finished first in the 1-meter dive with a 231.75 final and teammate Stephanie Paul (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) took second (230.20).
The Cardinals closed the night out with a top finish in the 400-yard free relay. The team was made up of Sayler, Del Rio, Erin Johnson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and Huang. The men also garnered the top spot in that event with the team of Mattingly, Franklin, Konopka and Morris.
Ball State continues action at IUPUI on Saturday (Dec. 2).
