OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State University women's tennis team ended its weekend at the Miami University Invitational on Sunday (Oct. 8). BSU claimed three doubles victories and three singles.
In singles action Haly Calderwood (Newington Australia/Danebank) defeated Katrina Lomidze of host Miami, 6-4, 6-3. Polina Askerko (Moskow, Russia) grabbed a 9-4, 7-6, (7-4) victory over Tiffani Foster (WSU) while Cardinal teammate Christine Stromberg (Rollingmeadows, Ill./Fremd) recorded the 6-1, 6-1 win against Audra Beckett (WSU).
In doubles play Ball State twosome Jennifer Pollack (Memphis, Tenn./White Station) and Stromberg took an 8-3 win over Alexandra Sitnikova and Casie Phillips (EKU). The duo of Emma Retter (Winchester, England/Peter Symonds College) and Katherine Rist (Leawood, Kansas/Blue Valley North) defeated Monica Capozziello and Kelsey Miles (WSU), 8-0. Pollack and Stromberg teamed together in the round three doubles which resulted in an 8-2 win over Christa Ames and Karina Presti of Wright State.
Ball State will be back in action on Friday (Oct. 20) at the University of Memphis.
