Golf Finishes 11th; Wayne Denger Finishes Fourth at 49er Classic

The Ball State men's golf team, led by the fourth place finish of Wayne Denger, placed 11th in the 15-team field at the UNC Charlotte 49er Classic presented by Sleep Inn and Suites.
Ball State was tied for second as a team after shooting a first round 295, but managed only a 318 in the second round and a 313 in the final round to place 11th.
Denger managed a 70-74-74=218 to place fourth out of the tournament's 80 golfers.
After Denger's fourth-place mark, Ball State's C.D. Hockersmith managed an 82-75-79=236 to tie for 50th. Travis Smith tallied a 74-83-81=238, Austin Steele posted a 76-86-79=241 and Andy Skillman managed a 75-8781=243.
Charlotte won the tournament with a 294-289-288=871, while the 49er's Ray Sheedy was the tourney medalist with a 73-68-68=209.
Ball State will complete the fall portion of its schedule at the Herb Wimberly Invitational hosted by New Mexico State University Oct. 30-31.
