Women's Tennis Ends First Day at Memphis Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Ball State University women's tennis team dropped all but one doubles match in its opening day at the University of Memphis Fall Invitational on Friday (Oct. 20). Memphis native Jennifer Pollack (Memphis, Tenn./White Station) and Christine Stromberg (Rollingmeadows, Ill./Fremd) defeated the twosome of Mary Harrison and Lauren Nowicki of SFA in the second round of consolation, 8-4. Haly Calderwood (Newington, Austrailia/Danebank) along with teammate Polina Askerko (Moskow, Russia) dropped their match to Anne Pennington and Casady Pruitt of Murray State by a score of 8-5. Emma Retter (Winchester, England/Peter Symonds College) alongside partner Rachel Suroweic (LaPorte, Ind./IPFW) fell to Gaby Gadeva and Niki Schoenauer of Stephen F. Austin, 8-6. Ball State continues fall action at the University of Memphis on Saturday (Oct. 21).
