Women's Soccer Dominates in 3-0 Victory over Bowling Green
September 30, 2005 | Soccer
The host Cardinals dominated in almost every category, tabbing 15, nine and nine, in shots, shots on goal and corner kicks, respectively. Bowling Green notched four, zero, and two, respectively.
"This was a great team effort today," said Ball State head coach Ron Rainey. "We truly played well defensively by taking away a lot of Bowling Green's strengths. I could not be more pleased with our win today."
Junior Amy Holst recorded her third goal of the season and put the Cardinals on the scoreboard first at the 22:22 mark. Her winner came off an assist by sophomore Angie Heyer and senior Krista Mitts.
Fifteen minutes later (37:24), Heyer lobbed a corner kick into the back of the net, past BGSU's goalkeeper, Ali Shingler. The goal was Heyer's second of the 2005 campaign.
At 53:45 into the match, a duo of freshmen created a perfect play to put the Cardinals up 3-0. Annie Aiello tallied her third winner of the season as she pushed one in off a pass from Bailey Decker.
Holst posted a game-high three shots -- all of which were on goal -- while Heyer, freshman Emily Rein and Aiello chipped in with two apiece.
Ball State looks to continue its dominating style when it hosts MAC foe Toledo Sunday at 1 p.m. at the BSU Soccer Field. Admission is free.
