Soccer Suffers First MAC Loss at Buffalo
September 25, 2005 | Soccer
Buffalo's Ashley Turner scored her first career goal in the third minute after a corner from the left side by sophomore Katie Fage. UB's Natalia Crofut won the kick and got the ball to Turner, who lifted the ball into the right side of the net, giving Buffalo the early lead.
Each team notched 12 shots apiece on the afternoon, while the Cardinals held a seven to two advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Bailey Decker, sophomore Sarah Leibel and junior Amy Holst led BSU with two shots apiece. Junior goalkeeper Alison Becker posted four saves in 90 minutes in the net.
"It was a tough game," said Ball State head coach Ron Rainey. "We had trouble finding a rhythm offensively. When we did, we just were not able to tie up the score after giving up an early goal. Overall, it was a good effort, yet just a little disappointing that we could not get in a better rhythm offensively and defensively today."
Ball State returns home for its next two MAC games this weekend. Bowling Green visits Muncie Friday for a 3 p.m. matchup, while Toledo travels to the BSU Soccer Field for a 1 p.m. contest Sunday. Admission is free.
