Freshmen Make Immediate Impact in Soccer's 3-0 Win Over Indiana State

"This was a great start to the season," said Ball State head coach Ron Rainey. "It was a great effort by our team. I am excited about getting back to practice tomorrow so we can prepare for Butler at home on Sunday."
Rein scored BSU's first and lone goal of the first half at the 19:49 mark off an assist by senior captain Lindsay Wiltshire. Fellow freshman Aiello dished another goal into the net at 52:49 to give BSU a 2-0 lead. With just seven minutes to play in the match, Rein notched her second goal off an assist by sophomore Sarah Leibel.
The Cardinals outshot the host Sycamores 22-7, while registering 11 shots on goal to ISU's two. Leibel posted a team-high five shots and Rein pitched in with four more. Junior Vandi Ogden added another three for BSU in the outing.
Junior goalkeeper Alison Becker tallied two saves, while Rachel Rudzis knocked away eight for the Sycamores.
BSU hosts its first regular season home match of the 2005-06 season Sunday with a 1 p.m. matchup versus Butler.
