July 29, 2005 | Women's Golf
Carmen Bodine (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville H.S.), Chelsie Flannery (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington H.S.), Holly Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mt. Notre Dame H.S.), Katie Sundberg (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury H.S.)and Amber Uphaus (Wauseon, Ohio/Waueson H.S.) each received the honor.
BallStatewas the only school from the Mid-American Conference -- and one of just three Division I schools in the nation -- to have at least five recipients named All-America Scholars.
"This is great for our five players to be recognized with this award," said BSU head coach Katherine Mowat. "The NGCA honor is a prestigious award which reflects our student-athlete's commitment to academics. I am very proud of these five individuals. Our goal is to see their names, and possibly more, on this list next season."
Bodine and Sundberg were both selected to the MAC All-Academic Team for the first time in their careers earlier this year.
The NGCA honored 199 women's collegiate golfers with the award. The criteria for selection to the All-America Scholar Team includes a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 and competition in 66 percent of the school's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
