Singleton Selected by Oakland in Second Day of MLB Draft

During the 2005 season, Singleton tallied a .276 (51-for-185) batting average with 36 runs scored and 34 RBI. A 6-1 righty, he tallied 12 multiple-base hits on the year, including seven doubles and five home runs. Of his five round trippers, two were grand slams.
Singleton played in 54 of the Cardinals' 56 games on the year, starting 50 as catcher. He was 8-of-12 in stolen base attempts, while posting a .995 fielding percentage. He recorded 340 putouts and 52 assists, while only posting two errors.
Named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Feb. 28, 2005, Singleton posted one of the longest hitting streaks in school annals in 2004, recording at least one hit in 20-straight games from April 9 to May 12.
In three seasons with the Cardinals, Singleton has amassed a .299 (132-for-441) career batting average with 80 runs scored and 61 RBI. He has recorded 16 doubles, six home runs and a triple.
Over his career, Singleton has started 112 of the 134 games he has played. He has a .992 career fielding percentage with 649 attempts and 108 assists.
