Soccer Falls to Central Michigan in Overtime
October 07, 2005 | Soccer
"It was a good, hard game today," said Ball State head coach Ron Rainey. "We had trouble getting possession in behind the defense. They did a nice job on the defensive end. We also played well defensively. However, Central Michigan kept the ball moving and ended up scoring in overtime."
With less than one minute remaining in the first overtime period, Central Michigan's Laura Roberts blasted a shot from the top of the box over BSU goalkeeper, Alison Becker. It was Roberts' second goal of the campaign and was assisted by Alison Heydorn.
The host Chippewas held a 14-5 advantage in shots, yet the two teams tallied an even five corner kicks apiece.
Junior Vandi Ogden posted three shots to lead the BSU offense, while fellow junior Amy Holst and sophomores Lindsay Martin and Laura Bandy chipped in with one shot each.
Ball State continues its MAC road swing with a 1 p.m. matchup versus Eastern Michigan Sunday.
