Stevie Nelson, a four-year football letterman from 1979 through 1982, was a 1980 and 1981 All-MAC First-Team selection that received honorable mention on the 1980 Associated Press All-America Team. He led the Cardinals in receiving in 1980, 1981, and 1982, and still holds the BSU records for kickoff return average in a game (57.0) and in a career (24.8). Nelson, who returned a kick 100 yards for a touchdown against Ohio in 1980, is the last BSU football player to return a kick for a TD.
