Granning, the first women’s volleyball player inducted into the Hall of Fame, played from 1979 through 1982 and was a two-time selection to the All-MAC Team plus was named to the Cardinals’ 1980s Women’s Volleyball All-Decade Team. Granning, who captained the Cardinals in 1981 and 1982 as a junior and senior, led Ball State to a 32-12 overall record in her final campaign. She tallied a .309 attack average during her career, including a personal-best mark of .355 in 1981. Her .309 career mark stood as a school record for 16 years before being surpassed in 1998. Granning also completed her collegiate career as Ball State’s all-time leaders in service aces with 138 and in games played with 464. She also completed her four seasons as one of Ball State’s all-time leaders in total attempts. In 1982, Granning played in a school-record 136 games. She managed a .355 hitting percentage in 1981, which continues to rank as the third-best single-season mark in BSU annals. In 1980, Granning was selected to the IAIAW All-Tournament Team after helping Ball State to a second-round appearance.
