Namesake:
Ken and Peggy Briner, who provided the lead gift for the complex. They are longtime supporters of Ball State athletics who are members of the Cardinal Varsity Club's Hall of Fame level of giving.

The Soccer Field at the Briner Sports Complex opened for the 2011 season.
Since moving across campus to open the complex in 2011, the team has posted a home record of 46-10-10, including a 23-1-4 mark over the past three seasons.
