Former Wright State standout and Noblesville, Ind., native Jason Balach joined the Ball State soccer staff as an assistant coach in July 2015. He coaches the Cardinals’ goalkeepers.
Balach helped Ball State to a 14-3-3 record, a school record 10-1 league mark and the Mid-American Conference regular season championship in 2015. The Cardinals posted nine shutouts and ranked 17th in the country with a .623 goals against average.
Balach tutored All-MAC First Team goalkeeper Alyssa Heintschel, who ranked second in the MAC and 23rd in the country individually with a .634 GAA.
Prior to joining the Cardinals’ staff, Balach served as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program at IUPUI in 2014, working with the Jaguars' goalkeepers.
His experience extends to the club ranks, where he has coached with Noblesville United and the Indianapolis Premier Soccer Club. He remains on staff with the Fishers-based Indy Premier Soccer Club and is active with Indiana's Olympic Development Program.
Balach was a four-year starter as a goalkeeper at Wright State University from 2002-05. He finished his career fourth in Wright State history in minutes played (5,156), saves (256) and shutouts (14).
Balach graduated with a degree in business management. He went on to work for Austin Peay State University as a student-athlete academic advisor and for the National Center for Drug Free Sport in Kansas City, Mo. His coaching career began in 2009 with the Indianapolis Premier Soccer Club.
