MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State women's volleyball assistant coach Tiffany Fisher has been named one of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) 2018 Thirty Under 30 Award winners.
Â
The 28-year-old Fisher is one of only 12 NCAA Division I coaches to make the list which honors up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels of the sport. She is also the only representative from the Mid-American Conference.
Â
"Tiffany has been a great asset to our program, and I'm excited for her to receivethis recognition," Ball State head coach Kelli Miller, a 2016 award winner, said. "Not only is she a relentless recruiter and competitor, but she also cares about every player inour programon a personal level. That's what makes her such a special coach."
Â
Fisher recently completed her second season on the Ball State staff, helping guide the Cardinals to a 32-29 (20-12 MAC) record over the past two years. Ball State claim the MAC West Division title with an 11-5 league mark in 2017, following a runner-up divisional finish in 2016.
Â
On the court, Fisher has helped Ball State student-athletes earn two All-MAC First Team honors, two All-MAC Honorable Mention accolades and two MAC All-Freshman Team awards.
Â
In the classroom, the Cardinals were honored with the prestigious AVCA Team Academic Award for finishing the 2016-17 academic year with a 3.48 team grade-point average and are on pace to claim it again for the 2017-18 academic year.Â
Â
In addition, Ball State players have earned 14 Academic All-MAC selections and six MAC Women's Volleyball Distinguished Scholar Athletes awards during Fisher's tenure.
Â
"I am honored to receive this award," Fisher said. "I am extremely thankful to the coaches I have worked with throughout my career who have recognized my potential and helped me develop as both a coach and a person. I am also thankful for Kelli who believed in me and found something in my coaching abilities worthy of nominating me for this award. I know there are a lot of great coaches out there whohave received this honor, and I hope to find a way to become assuccessful as they have."
