Matt Walsh Earns Third MIVA Player of the Week Honor

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced Matt Walsh as this week's conference Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday morning. This marks his third overall player of the week honor this season, his second time as defensive player of the week.
Walsh is being honored for his performances against McKendree and No. 7 Ohio State. He finished the weekend with 21 kills for a .381 hitting percentage. Walsh averaged 2.62 kills per set and 1.88 blocks per set. In the eight sets of play, he had 15 blocks, two digs and two service aces. Walsh finished the weekend with 30.5 points.
In the sweep of McKendree, the middle attacker had seven kills for a .417 attack percentage. Walsh led the team in blocks with six along with adding one dig and a service ace in the contest.
The senior came out with a powerful performance in the thrilling comeback victory over the Buckeyes. The Chicago native led the team in kills with 14 on his senior night, including the match winning kill. He also had .367 hitting percentage, one dig and one ace. Walsh also led the team in blocks with nine.
Walsh and the rest of the Ball State men's volleyball team will enter post season this weekend on Saturday, April 14. The 11th ranked Cardinals enter the MIVA tournament as the conference three seed and will host the six seed McKendree at 7:30 p.m.
