Field Hockey Places 14 on National Academic Squad

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Ball State field hockey team placed 14 members on the 2017 Zag Field Hockey/ NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad announced Thursday.
Over 960 student-athletes representing 76 schools were selected to the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The Division I National Academic Squad program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
The Ball State student-athletes named to the team were Beth Barnes, Ayanna Chapman, Kylee Cunningham, Anya Eicher, Sierra Jefferson, Abbey Main, Jenna McKune, Alison McMullen, Merinda Morley, Allison Parker, Rachel Pereira, Michelle Shampton, Carley Shannon and Olivia Susi.
Main, Morley and Shannon have earned this award every year of their college careers. Chapman, Cunningham, McKune, and Parker have been named to the National Academic squad for the first time.
The Ball State field hockey team had 10 members named to the Academic All-MAC team last semester along with four athletes named 2017 Scholars of Distinction. On the field, the Cardinals finished last season with a 5-12 record.
