He hit his first collegiate home run in Friday's opener, a two-run shot, to give the Cardinals an early 2-0 lead on the way to a 5-1 victory. The shortstop also had an RBI single in Friday's victory. Powell scored a run in the eighth inning in Ball State's 7-2 win on Sunday. Powell also helped the Cardinals turn two double plays in the series finale.
The native of Fortville, Indiana, improved his batting average nearly 100 points this weekend from .238 to .324
Bowling Green's Kody Brown and Central Michigan's Michael Brettell shared MAC Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Ball State (12-11, 2-1 MAC) is in action today in a non-conference game at Valparaiso. The Cardinals are back at home this coming weekend against conference foe Central Michigan.
