March 14, 2018 | Gymnastics
MUNCIE, Ind.,-- The Ball State gymnastics team is coming off a 196.075-195.400 loss but looks to improve their conference record at Central Michigan Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. EST in their last regular season meet.Â
"I'm looking forward to competing at Central the week before they host the Mid-American Conference Championships," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "We have the rare opportunity to get use to the atmosphere and equipment before the championships."
Last week's competition at Western Michigan saw many individual improvements. The Cardinals started on bars where Jordyn Penny swung into fourth place with a 9.800.
On vault Bri Slonim took second place with a score of 9.825.
Tia Kiaku matched her career high of a 9.900 on floor. Kiaku took second place overall. Kaitlyn Menzione returned to the lineup and claimed third place with a 9.800.Â
On beam Baylee Bell and Jordyn Penny tied in second place both scoring 9.825. Vicky Garcia landed in fifth place with a score of 9.800.
"I'm excited to see the team build off of last week," Saleem stated. "Last week they competed like we have been training all year and the team has worked hard on staying in the moment on the competition floor."
As regular season comes to a close the Cardinals prepare for the Mid-American Conference Championships at Central Michigan Mar. 24 at 2 p.m. EST.
