About the Cardinals
• Ball State hits the road for the first time in more than a month to continue Mid-American Conference play at Ohio. The Cardinals have played their past nine games in Indiana (eight at home) and have not been outside the state since Thanksgiving.
• BSU will play six of its next eight games on the road. The Cardinals have won their two most recent road games, defeating Indiana State on Nov. 25 and Notre Dame on Dec. 5 when the Irish were ranked eighth in the country.
• Ball State saw its nine-game winning streak come to an end Saturday against MAC East Division favorite Buffalo. It was the seventh-longest active streak in the country at the time and tied for the sixth longest in program history (longest since the 1999-2000 season). The loss was the first for Ball State at home this season and snapped a 10-game home winning streak.
• Senior guard Sean Sellers hit his 200th career 3-pointer in the Buffalo game, joining teammate Francis Kiapway in that club. It is the first time BSU has ever had two players on the same roster with 200 career 3-pointers. Sellers enters the Ohio game six points shy of 1,000 for his career.
• Junior center Trey Moses recorded double-figure rebounds for the fifth consecutive game Saturday. He has three double-doubles during that stretch and is averaging 10.2 points and 11.0 rebounds over the five games.
• Ball State checks in at No. 144 in the Ken Pomeroy ratings as the second-highest team from the MAC (Buffalo is No. 96). The Cardinals were No. 21 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.
Scouting Ohio
• Ohio is 1-1 in MAC play with a road loss at Central Michigan and a home victory over Northern Illinois.
• The Bobcats feature four players averaging double-figure scoring, led by senior guard Mike Laster at 17.2 points per game.
• Ohio ranks third in the league in field goal percentage defense (.418) and first in 3-point defense (.314).
• The Bobcats and Cardinals have two common opponents. Both lost to Dayton with Ohio falling 79-65 at a neutral site and Ball State falling 78-77 on a buzzer beater on the road. Both defeated Indiana State with the Bobcats winning 96-94 in four overtimes at a neutral site and the Cardinals winning 93-85 on the road.
• Ohio is in its fourth season under head coach Saul Phillips. The Bobcats have won at least 20 games in each of the past two seasons and were picked to finish third this year in the MAC East.
Series History
• Ohio leads the all-time series 47-33 and holds a 27-10 advantage in games played in Athens.
• Ohio won last year's meeting 79-77 in Muncie. Ball State came from 25 points down to take a one-point lead late but could not hold onto it.
• Trey Moses had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in last year's game.
• Francis Kiapway is averaging 14.5 points and shooting 60 percent (15 for 25) from 3-point range over four career games against Ohio. Sean Sellers is averaging 13.0 points and shooting 61.5 percent (8 for 13) from beyond the arc in three career games versus the Bobcats.
