Swimming and Diving Teams Both Come Up Short In Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ball State men's and women's swimming and diving teams both traveled to Indianapolis to take on Xavier, IUPUI and University of Indianapolis Friday evening. The men fell to Xavier 184 -110, to IUPUI 229-71, and to UIndy 222-77. The final scores for the women were Xavier 191, Ball State 97; IUPUI 180, Ball State 120; and UIndy 170, Ball State 126.
Logan Ackley was the top finisher on the men's side after placing third in the 200 backstroke (1:54.39) and placing fifth in the 100 backstroke (53.19). Cullen Tyler earned a fourth place finish in the 200 breaststroke after touching the wall at 2:13.56. Tyler also earned a fifth place spot in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 59.91.
The women's team was highlighted by two first place finishes. Audrey Schank, Cailin Merck, Andrea Richter, Peighton Gilbert tallied a time of 1:48.10 to earn the top spot in the 200 medley relay. Rachel Smallwood earned the number one spot in the 1-meter dive with a score of 260.75.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will be in action again at home on Saturday, Jan. 13. The Cardinals will take on conference foe Eastern Michigan in Lewellen at 1 p.m.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team's opponent will also be taking on Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan. The Cardinals will travel to Ypsilanti, Michigan, Friday, Jan. 19. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.

Logan Ackley was the top finisher on the men's side after placing third in the 200 backstroke (1:54.39) and placing fifth in the 100 backstroke (53.19).
