2017 graduates set to begin first seasons in professional ranks
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Former Ball State men's basketball players Franko House and Ryan Weber are continuing their playing careers overseas.
Â
House, who spent part of the offseason on the roster of the NFL's Chicago Bears, is returning to the hardwood. He signed this week with Landstede Basketbal in the Dutch Basketball League, the first division in Holland. Weber signed over the summer with AS Cherbourg Basket in France.
Â
AS Cherbourg is already in the midst of its preseason, with Weber scoring 19 points in a recent exhibition game. House begins his season in October for a Landstede team that finished runner-up in its league last year.
Â
House was a two-time All-MAC performer at Ball State, appearing in more games (129) than any player in program history and starting 113 of them. The post player from Elkhart scored 1,371 points for his career, averaging 13.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game last year as a senior.
Â
Weber connected on 137 three-pointers (the 10th-most in program history) in just two seasons at Ball State after transferring from Youngstown State. The guard from Indianapolis scored more than 1,000 points for his college career, averaging 9.6 per game as a senior.
Â
House and Weber helped turn the Ball State program around during their time in Muncie. They were a major part of back-to-back 20-win seasons, MAC West Division co-championships and postseason appearances for the Cardinals over their final two years.
