Women’s Tennis Earns ITA Academic Team Award

MUNCIE, Ind. - The 2016-17 Ball State University women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team for the 18th time over the last 20 years.
As a team, the Cardinals combined for a 3.213 grade point average on the school's 4.0 scale.
Three members of the squad received individual ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades, senior Carmen Blanco (3.750), junior Isabelle Dohanics (3.566) and senior Toni Ormond (4.000). This is the fourth time for Ormond to receive the honor and marks the second time Blanco has been recognized with the award. This is the first time Dohanics has earned the accolade.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2016 and spring 2017).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
