Kelsey Sear Wins Ontario Amateur

2017 graduate will now serve as Cardinals’ graduate assistant
CAMBRIDGE, Ontario -- Recent Ball State graduate Kelsey Sear won this week's Investors Group Ontario Women's Amateur Championship at Galt Country Club.

Sear entered Friday's final round with a share of the lead and closed with a 2-under par 70 to defeat Madeline Marck-Sherk by one shot. Sear posted a 72-hole total of 2-over par 290, which included an opening-round 69.

The players battled back and forth for much of the final round before Sear grabbed the lead for good on the par-3 16th hole. She made eight pars and one birdie on the back nine to secure the win.

Sear was a four-year letterwinner at Ball State and one of the Cardinals' top players over her final three years. The Unionville, Ontario, product led the team as a senior this year with a 77.14 stroke average and four top-20 finishes.

Having graduated in the spring, Sear will remain on board to serve as the Cardinals' graduate assistant coach as she pursues her master's degree.
